Legislation we support
Two bills in the Maryland House and Senate that we are tracking
and support.
- S 405 / HB 543 establishes a State Apprenticeship Training Fund in
the Department of Labor, Licensing, and Regulation.
- S 406/ HB 644 which expands workers rights to purpose of expanding
rights and remedies for private enforcement suits under the State
prevailing wage law.
Finally, the Department of Labor, Licensing, and Regulation is
submitting legislation to reduce the Prevailing Wage threshold from
$500,000 to $100,000. A move we strongly support. A bill number has
yet to be assigned for this legislation.
The Maryland General Assembly meets in Annapolis each year for 90 days to act on more than 2300 bills including the State's annual budget. The 426th Session begins January 14, 2009 and adjourns April 13, 2009. The General Assembly has 47 Senators and 141 Delegates elected from 47 districts.
