The Maryland General Assembly meets in Annapolis each year for 90 days to act on more than 2300 bills including the State's annual budget. The 426th Session begins January 14, 2009 and adjourns April 13, 2009. The General Assembly has 47 Senators and 141 Delegates elected from 47 districts.
The Virginia General Assembly consists of the House of Delegates with 90 to 100 members and the Senate shall consist of 33 to 40 members. All members of the General Assembly are elected by qualified voters within their respective House and Senate districts. The 2009 Session convenes January 14, 2009
The Council of the District of Columbia is the legislative branch of the District government. All legislative powers are vested in the Council. In addition, the Council approves the District's annual budget and financial plan, oversees government agencies operations and determines land use regulations. View the legislative calendar.
